Clarissa Q and A

Why did you become a legal executive?

Having previously worked as a legal administrator, I was often curious about the work I was doing for lawyers within the firm. I wanted to have more involvement with clients and their transactions and also to finally have more understanding of all of the documents I had prepared over the years, what they meant and why they were so important.

When you are not being a legal executive what do you like doing most?

I love to travel. When I’m not doing that, I enjoy everything outdoors in particular hiking or running. When I’m indoors I spend my time practicing Macrame which is a crafting technique that uses knots to create various textiles.

Where is your special place in the region?

The coastal areas of Miramar peninsular. Being lucky enough to live close by I’ve spent many hours staring out at the views which are always so beautiful no matter the weather.

What is your favourite shop/restaurant?

The Rutland Arms in Whanganui, my hometown (for many reasons!).

How would you describe your style of practice?

Communicative, practical and empathetic. I understand that sometimes clients can be very stressed or worried so I like to keep them informed and try to really understand their situation as best I can. This helps me to work better with clients to achieve great results.

If you had to give a first homebuyer a single piece of advice, what would it be?

Do your homework. Instruct a lawyer and keep calm because everything you are worrying about, your lawyer has already thought of!

What is different about the GYW service that makes it so popular?

Their friendliness, approachability and flexibility. HomeLegal has great software and systems in place which allows easy communication of advice and delivers it in such a way that is easy to understand.
